Today we visited the iconic St Louis Gateway Arch. It is a 630 foot tall stainless steel arch that is as wide as it is tall.

To get to the top of the arch we had to cram ourselves into a very small pod, which was with some very large Americans making it very cosy.

At the top of the arch there are very narrow windows to view the city below.

We then visited all of the Route 66 stops in St Louis. Many of them were food outlets.
The daftest question of the holiday so far came from Tom when he asked me "What food do they serve here?" as we approached the Donut Drive-In shown above.

Ted Drewes is famous for its frozen custard, which to me looked and tasted like a thick Mr Whippy ice cream. As you could probably tell Route 66 has a lot of healthy eating options :)

St Louis's number one thing to do is the Missouri Botanical Garden, which I can understand why now I have visited it. It is like a modern day version of Kew Gardens. It was a great place to escape from the busy city and enjoy some nature.
