Day 29 - Palm Desert to Santa Monica

Today is our last day on Route 66 and we are glad to be reaching our final destination but we are sad that it is all over.

It was probably our worst day of driving today as it seemed that we had to stop for a red light every ten metres. The LA traffic was also bumper to bumper with impatient locals eager to beep their horn if you weren't in the right lane. We passed through many famous places including the Beverly Hills area.

Our hotel for the night is the historic Georgian Hotel on Santa Monica's seafront. The hotel is directly opposite the end point of Route 66 and a short walking distance to the pier.

We managed to get to the pier just before sunset and the place was buzzing with many tourists just like Brighton pier except on a California beach.

Thanks for sharing your holiday, it's been great seeing all the amazing places you've visited. My favourites were the old VW Beetles and of course the Breaking Bad set. The sights you've seen and shared have been amazing. The burger total wasn't too bad for a months holiday! Enjoy catching up with Jackie and Jess and all have a safe flight home. Xxx
