Last night we stayed in Williams a thriving Route 66 town. This is mainly due to its closeness to the Grand Canyon and the train that runs from there to the Grand Canyon. Friday night was really lively with lots of live music in bars and we had one of the best meals of our trip.

In the morning we took some time out to go to Pete's restored gas station shown above. We spent at least half an hour chatting to Pete and he told us that he bought the place to display his collection of gas station memorabilia. He had done a fantastic job of the restoration as it was wood clad and had no canopy before Pete bought it but it is now back to it's original state including the colour scheme.

This car on top of a salon caught our eye in a small town.

We stopped in Seligman for lunch. It is a very touristy 66 town, which many people doing coach tours stop at. It was a quirky place and each store seemed to be stranger than the last one.

We ate at Delgadillo's Snow Cap. It's unique angle was that they liked practical jokes such as: the doors said push when they needed to be pulled, you had to order the 'Cheeseburger with cheese' and the lady that took your order had a repertoire of jokes. For example, when you asked for ice with your drink she overfilled the cup with ice and said 'do you want more?' and when you asked for a straw she presented a handful of straw.

After a long stretch with nothing to see we stopped at Hackberry General Store for an ice cream.

This Indian statue was found inside the store. In the past it would have been found outside the store and would mark that the store sold tobacco products.

Kingman is our stop for tonight and it is a railroad town. This steam engine was displayed at the side of the road near the station and during its service it had travelled over 2.5 million miles from Los Angeles to Kansas City and back.
