Amarillo is home to one of the icons of 66, that being the Cadillac Ranch. It's tradition to bring a can of spray paint to add a bit of your own colour to the cars. Tom and I added a splash of fluorescent orange and yellow paint.
Some people are more artistic than us.
Here you can see the thickness of all the paint where someone has scraped out the numbers. It must've been at least half a centimetre thick.
We have now reached the half way point on our journey across America.
At the MidPoint Cafe we met another person that inspired the creators of Cars. The lady that owned the gift shop here was the inspiration for the character Flo.
Another dirt road today but this one was 18 miles long and didn't have any potholes so we managed to drive all the way on it.
We went through numerous ghost towns today on Route 66 and saw many previously successful businesses now in ruins.
We entered a new state today, New Mexico.
Our final destination and bed for the night was the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari. It is a 1939 motel with many of the same features inside and outside that travellers would have experienced when it first opened.
This gift shop in Tucumcari was in the shape of a tepee and had this cool neon sign.
